Dementia Action Week, from May 18–24, is an important opportunity to raise awareness and highlight the support available for people living with dementia and those who care for them.

We understand that a dementia diagnosis can bring uncertainty, not only for the individual but also for their family and carers. Maintaining independence, safety, and confidence becomes more important than ever, and that’s where our Delta Direct service can make a real difference.

Supporting independence at home

Many people living with dementia express a strong wish to remain in their own home for as long as possible. Delta Direct helps make this possible through a range of assistive technology solutions designed to support day-to-day living.

From discreet sensors that detect movement or inactivity, to prompts and reminders that help with daily routines, technology can provide reassurance without being intrusive. These solutions help to:

  • Reduce risk within the home
  • Provide reassurance to family members
  • Support routines that promote independence
  • Enable early intervention if something isn’t right

By combining technology with personal support, Delta Direct offers a balanced and person-focused approach.

Peace of mind at home and out and about

For individuals living with dementia, maintaining confidence to move around safely, both inside and outside the home, is vital. Our personal alarms are designed to provide that reassurance:

At home with Delta Alert

A simple-to-use alarm that can be worn as a pendant or on the wrist, it enables individuals to call for help at the press of a button. Whether they feel unwell, disorientated, or need support, our friendly advisers are there to help day or night, 365 days of the year.

Out and about with Delta Active

Staying connected to the community is essential for wellbeing. Our mobile personal alarms support independence beyond the home, offering:

  • GPS location support if someone becomes disorientated
  • Two-way communication with our monitoring centre
  • Built-in fall detection
  • Rapid response when needed

This means individuals can continue to enjoy everyday activities such as visiting shops, meeting friends, or going for a walk with greater confidence.

Delta Respond: a human response when it matters most

Technology is only part of the solution. What truly sets Delta Direct apart is our 24/7 in-person response service.

When an alarm is activated or a concern is identified, our team can quickly attend in person to provide practical, hands-on support. This includes:

  • Responding to falls, helping individuals safely and with dignity, and ensuring they are comfortable and supported
  • Checking on a person’s wellbeing if there are signs of concern or unusual activity
  • Assessing the situation and taking appropriate action, including contacting family members or emergency services if needed

Our response team are often the first to arrive, offering timely assistance that can prevent situations from escalating and reduce unnecessary hospital admissions.

For people living with dementia, this face-to-face support can be especially important, providing comfort, reassurance, and continuity when it matters most. For families and carers, it offers peace of mind that help is available around the clock and in person when it’s needed.

Delta Support: staying connected

Loneliness and isolation can be a challenge for people living with dementia; and support is equally important for those who care for them.

Our wellbeing calls offer regular, friendly contact to check in, provide reassurance, and ensure everything is okay. These calls can be tailored to support not only individuals living with dementia but family members or unpaid carers who may also need someone to talk to.

These calls can help to:

  • Help build routine and familiarity
  • Provide an opportunity to identify concerns early
  • Offer reassurance, companionship and emotional support

For carers, a simple check-in can make a meaningful difference, helping them feel supported, listened to, and less alone.

Supporting families and carers

We recognise that dementia doesn’t just affect the individual, it affects families too. Delta Direct is designed to support carers by:

  • Providing reassurance that help is always available
  • Reducing the pressure of constant monitoring
  • Offering practical support during unexpected situations

By working alongside families, we help create a supportive network that promotes confidence and wellbeing for everyone involved.

A shared commitment

Dementia Action Week is a reminder that small actions can make a big difference. Through the right combination of technology, personal support and community connection, we can help people live safely, confidently and independently for longer.
