Delta Wellbeing: supporting families affected by Alzheimer’s

Alzheimer’s: a growing concern

In Wales, the number of people living with Alzheimer's is steadily increasing. This is mainly due to our ageing population. As a result, the need for effective support and care has never been more critical.

At Delta Wellbeing, we provide hope for residents and their families in west Wales and beyond. This blog will explore our innovative approach to healthcare, along with various dedicated services and assistive technology tailored to the needs of people living with Alzheimer’s.

Understanding living with Alzheimer’s

Alzheimer’s is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that primarily affects the brain, leading to a range of cognitive and functional impairments. In the early stages, individuals may forget recent conversations, appointments, or where they placed everyday items. Communication becomes challenging as they struggle to express thoughts and may have trouble understanding others.

Over time, Alzheimer’s deprives individuals of their independence and memories, affecting their ability to perform even basic self-care tasks. It is a heartbreaking condition that not only impacts those diagnosed but also places significant stress on their carers’ and loved ones.
