From awareness to action: how we can help prevent falls and respond when it matters most
Falls are one of the leading causes of injury among older adults, often resulting in loss of independence, hospital admissions, and long-term complications.
This Falls Prevention Awareness Week (September 22-26 2025), we’re embracing the theme “From Awareness to Action” by showcasing how we are making a real difference in reducing falls and supporting individuals when they need it most.
Proactive wellbeing calls – staying connected, staying safe
Prevention starts with connection. Our proactive wellbeing calls are designed to check in regularly with clients, offering reassurance and identifying early signs of risk such as changes in mobility, health or confidence. These calls are more than a friendly chat, they are a lifeline for spotting potential issues before they lead to a fall.
Lifeline technology – peace of mind at the press of a button
Our lifeline devices and sensors provide 24/7 monitoring, ensuring help is always within reach. Whether it’s a pendant alarm or fall detection technology, these tools give individuals and their families peace of mind, knowing that support is just a button press away.
Rapid response service – because every minute counts
When a fall does happen, the speed of response can make all the difference. Long waits on the floor – known as long lies – can lead to serious complications such as hypothermia, pressure sores and hospitalisation. Our regulated mobile response team operates 24/7, attending non-injurious falls within an average of 45 minutes, reducing the need for ambulance call-outs and preventing unnecessary hospital admissions. In fact, only 6% of our call-outs require escalation to medical emergency services, demonstrating the effectiveness of timely intervention.
The impact so far
Through our CONNECT service, we’ve delivered:
- Over 190,000 proactive wellbeing calls
- More than 25,000 response call-outs
- 94% of all calls attended within 45 minutes
- Only 6% of call outs escalated to emergency services
These actions have helped thousands of people maintain independence, avoid hospital stays and live with confidence in their own homes.
Why it matters
Falls don’t just affect individuals, they impact families, communities and the wider health system. By combining technology-enabled care, human connection and rapid response, Delta Wellbeing is turning awareness into action every single day.
