Case Study: Delta CONNECT lifeline saves resident from serious repercussions after stroke

The situation:

An 80-year-old woman living alone in Carmarthenshire faced increasing vulnerability following the loss of her husband. She relied on limited support from family and neighbours. Concerned about potential falls and other health emergencies, she sought additional assistance.

The solution:

The woman joined Delta Wellbeing’s CONNECT service, which provides a lifeline alarm and fall detectors for immediate emergency assistance, together with a 24/7 response team. The service also offers regular wellbeing checks to monitor overall health and emotional wellbeing, empowering her to live independently with the assurance of immediate help when needed.

The outcome:

Following a fall at home, the woman activated her lifeline alarm, prompting a rapid response from Delta Wellbeing. The responder suspected a stroke and swiftly transported the woman to the local hospital for treatment.

Thanks to the timely intervention, the woman made a full recovery. The CONNECT service’s ongoing wellbeing calls provided essential emotional support during her recovery.

This case highlights Delta CONNECT's critical role in preventing severe injury and improving the quality of life for vulnerable individuals. The lifeline alarm and regular wellbeing calls offer peace of mind to the service user and reassurance to their loved ones, knowing that help is always at hand.

She said:

“I pressed my pendant, and I was told someone would be with me straight away. They arrived quickly and I was very happy to see someone. He said he thought I had had a stroke, he was very nice, and he helped me off the floor, and then to the car to take me to hospital, after that I can’t remember much, but I just remember how good he was.”

“The weekly calls are a comfort to me, especially since the stroke. It’s someone to talk to about how I am feeling, it really helps.”
