How TEC provided peace of mind for the Evans family

At Delta Wellbeing, our technology-enabled care (TEC) doesn’t just provide safety; it delivers peace of mind, 24/7, for people of all ages.

During National Epilepsy Week (May 19-26), we want to share a powerful example of how our epilepsy sensors make a real difference to the Evans family.

Late one night, while their youngest son, Jac, was sleeping, his epilepsy sensor detected signs of a seizure. The alert was immediately triggered and sent to our 24/7 monitoring centre. At the time, his parents were asleep and unaware of what was happening. These specialised sensors are designed to detect seizure activity and raise the alarm quickly.

While these sensors are typically linked to a pager-style system within the home, alerting parents or carers directly, this family’s system was also connected to our 24/7 call monitoring centre. As soon as the episode was detected, our team acted immediately. An adviser called the parents to alert them, allowing them to check on their child straight away. Thankfully, all was well, and our adviser remained on the line throughout, ready to contact emergency services if needed.

Thanks to our fast-acting team, we were able to contact the parents immediately. They were able to respond quickly and check on Jac. Thankfully, he was okay, and our trained advisers stayed on the line, ready to call emergency services if needed.

“We didn’t even know anything had happened until the phone rang. If it wasn’t for the sensor and Delta’s response, things could have been very different. It gives us so much peace of mind knowing someone is always watching out for us, even when we’re asleep.”

This incident highlights the vital importance of TEC. It’s not just for older adults or people living alone; it’s for anyone who may need extra reassurance and support to live safely and independently. Whether it’s epilepsy, falls, dementia, or general wellbeing, our technology is here to support people and families across our communities.

Please note: While Delta does provide epilepsy sensors as part of our wider range of TEC solutions, this specialist equipment is not included in our standard CONNECT package. This is typically funded through local authority support or private arrangements.
